I agree with jimmis. Perhaps shave a pixil of the edges to return some sharpness to them. Also, darken the shadows of the mouth and nose to match the shadow of the eyes. You might salvage it a bit then. Good idea though!

It doesn't matter whether it's steam or smoke. The PS goal is the same which is to use your skills to create something out of that "whispy" essence. Ultimately the effect is the same. Nice job! Although I think some more steam rising from the cup to join the ship would be more convincing as it's just floating above the cup at the mo'.

Hoo's Hoo.

Pretty good. The area under the eyes is a little featureless - like he's missing cheekbones. Also return the first line under the eyes as it's a feature of the old and young. Then I think he'd be happy with the "lift".

Not bad first attempt. Practice with the brush tool and dodge/burn tool to create shading and highlights so objects don't appear flat : )
