Tutorial goal:

In this tutorial I will show a method of turning an object to Ice, you can get glass effects and metal effects too by adjusting the layer blend modes and using a displacement filter.

step 1

Find an object you would like to turn to Ice. I'm using a skull in this example.


step 2

First select the object, I used the magic wand tool for this because the background is one color. now copy it, Ctrl + J ~ Now desaturate the layer; Shift + Ctrl + U ~


step 3

Now go to layers, layer blending mode arrow and select the exclusion mode.


step 4

Now copy the exclusion layer and set mode to screen 50%


step 5

Now make a layer of light blue and set it to overlay 50%

avatar MachinemanYou can use this for different effects. just experiment with the layer blending modes, masking,
filters ect... also using the dodge and burn tools are effective.
