Tutorial goal:
Hi everyone in this tutorial I show how to design wires using blending options, some layermasks and how to add a global light. Very simple tools. I made this tutorial because I saw you liked one of my entry with electric wires, so hope you like it again. For this tutorial you need a Photoshop CS3 version.

step 1
Sorry in advance for my poor english but it's not my mother language.
Let's start with that adaptor (personal source)
We are going to add some wires coming from the holes of this adaptor.
Please note that this object doesn't need anymore wires but I choose this image because it really fit for the work :)

step 2
Now we are going to create two groups of wires: the first one more simple and the second one where they interwave each other.
Ok let's start with the first:
- create a new layer and call it wire 1
- take the pen tool (P) and trace a curve line

step 3
- take the brush tool (B) and select a size of 14 or 15 but this depens on the resolution you are using
- then press (A) and right click with mouse and select stroke path
- select brush and here's the result (I've used a black brush but it's not important)

step 4
- Now go to the blending options of the layer (double clicking in the palette menu or clicking the fx icon at the bottom)
- now go to "bevel e emboss" and modify settings as you see. In the "gloss contour" I choose the cone: but it can works with the gaussian or the normal either.

step 5
- give a colour to the wire with the color overlay. I choose the red
- now let's see the direction of the light:
in the image blue arrows point at shadows and yellows at lights.
- go in the drop shadow submenu and set it like in the image: the ideal angle is not necessary the one wich corresponds to real (or in this case i should have type -35°)
