Tutorial goal:

We are going to make our own painting out of a portrait. You need a bit of drawing and painting skills, but most of the work is done by blending layers and the use of a few filters. Very detailed steps for beginners. Made with CS2.

Set the opacity of layer 3 to 44%.
By lowering the opacity of the different layers, the image becomes softer and you can still see the details through the colours.

Now we need the “girl1” psd file again. Click on the eyes of layer 2-3-4 in the layers window so they are invisible. You have the background layer and layer 1 visible now.
Select>all

Edit>copy merged

Go back to “girl2” image (with the coloured background)
Edit>paste
This is layer 4.
Use an eraser to erase the eyes and teeth on layer 4.

Set layer 4 to blending mode “colour burn” and opacity 70%.
