Now we will make some larger rays that flare out from the center of the Sun. I used the polyagonal marquee to do this.

Do a feathering about 20 pixels, then fill with white. with white in front box while holding down Alt hit the backspace to fill the selection.

Copy that layer and free transform. after you select free transform, to move the crosshairs (pivot point) hold down the Alt and drag the crosshairs with move tool to where you want it.

Give ray a guassian blur to your liking, lengthen the ray layer if you want.

You can also use a gradient mask on the ray layer to if you want to fade it more.
