Tutorial goal:
This tutorial is designed to show you how to create your own feathers in any shape or colour you desire. I will say at the outset that it is AN EXTREMELY DETAILED TUTORIAL so that even an absolute beginner to PST will be able to follow this. For those of you who are more experienced please bear in mind that we all have to begin somewhere and that is the reason for every minute detail being included in this tutorial. I am currently working on another tutorial whereby you will be able to create a complete set of wings using feathers you have created yourself.

Open a new image by clicking FILE then select NEW.

Select 500 PIXELS, RGB 72ppi with a WHITE background as shown here.

Select the PEN tool and click in the middle of the screen and just below the top edge of the box.

Now hold down the SHIFT key and click at the bottom of the screen to create a straight line, then click back on the top point once again and your straight line will be seen as shown here.

At the top of the screen click SHAPE LAYERS.

Select the CONVERT POINT tool.

Now double click on the top point and stretch it out by holding down the left mouse button and dragging it to the right and the handles for the line bending will then become visible.

Repeat at the bottom so that you should now see four handles which you will now use to bend the lines as shown here.
