Click FILTER and then DISTORT and then SHEAR and then when the pop out box appears set the top of the image off to either the left or right (depending on your own choice) and make a gentle S shaped curve down to the centre and then click OK

AND FINALLY to colour your feather click IMAGE and then ADJUSTMENTS and then HUE/SATURATION and use the following settings.

CHECK: COLOURIZE
HUE: 51
SATURATION: 50

avatar unkskittyI had trouble going from step 2 to step 3 without my path vanishing. You might want to mention that you should have shape layers on BEFORE drawing the path in step 2 so that when you go to edit the path it is still there! (Otherwise i it is just a work path.)
