This is a beginners tutorial about, how to apply a 'Aquarel-painting'-effect to a photo.

step 1
The 'Aquarel-painting'-Effect

step 2
1 - Start a new photoshop-document
We first create some paper-background for our painting
2 - Name the first layer 'background', and make it white with the 'paint bucket tool'. (left side in your tools)
3 - Then go to 'Filter / Texture / Texturizer'
Texturizer Settings:
Scaling = 100 %
Relief = 4
Light = Bottom Left

step 3
1 - Copy and Paste the original photo into the document.
2 - Name the layer 'Original'
3 - Duplicate this layer (ctrl+j) and name it 'Aquarel'
Now you have 3 layers:
- Aquarel (Aquarel-effect)
- Original (original photo)
- Background (paper)

step 4
-Decrease Saturation-
1 - Select the 'Aquarel-layer'
2 - Go to 'Image / Adjustments / Hue-Saturation'
3 - Set the saturation to -50 and click OK

step 5
-Aquarel-effect-
1 - Select the 'aquarel-layer'
2 - Go to 'Filter / Brush Strokes / Crosshatch'
Crosshatch Settings:
Stroke Lenght = 3
Sharpness = 10
Strength = 1
