step 6

colour the interior of the word as shown with these colours...
(I repeat that it is not provided to be this pic., you can draw your own word or shape by creating new layer and using the brush tool as I will describe later at step 10...)

step 7

resize the pic to fit on the screen by Right Click on it and choose free transform, at the height and width boxes make it 120% "just to fit":
1. click the magic wand again, select the black borders...
2. with the eraser tool clear the selection as shown...
3. click Alt+Ctrl+D or head to select menu->Feather..
4. set the feather with radius 5 pxs as shown..

step 8

fill the selection feather with the black colour...

step 9

head to layer->Layer style->blending options or from the layers window right click on layer 1->blending options, choose the blend mode: darken as shown.
NOTE:
Blending mode depends on the level of colour you use; for example: if you use dark colours it will be more suitable to choose Darken or multiply, if light colour choose lighten, or something else suitable enough to show your colour contrast(shadows=the amount of colour)...anyway try all the modes until you obtain the colour contrast..

step 10

ok, create new layer i.e.:layer 4. "from the layers window click on the button in the green circle":
1. Draw the shape you want using the brush tool "with sharp circle pointer", for me; I wrote the word" AWESOME".
2. select the magic wand and the select the word as shown or from layers window hold down ctrl and click on the layer 4 icon..
3. select the background "the brick image" from the layers window.
4. RC"right click"->layer via copy
