Tutorial goal:

In this tutorial I will show you how to turn a photo of a bottle to a half digitalized bottle, that can be used for magazine ads, etc. Some basic skills like masking are required as I will not explain how to mask out the bottle out of it's background.

step 1

First you need a source photo, I used a bottle but same technique can be used for some other objects...

step 2

... Create a layer by double clicking on the photo layer. Mask out the bottle (I'm not showing how to do this, because there are a lot of tutorials on the web for that), and create a black filled layer below the bottle layer. (left it invisible for the easier understanding of this step)...

step 3

... CTRL+Click on the bottle layer to select it. On the layers toolbar click the new fill or adjustment layer and fill it with black. Place that layer on top. Add some white inner glow to make a sort of outline. Should look like this...

step 4

... Now duplicate the bottle layer and move it on top of the layer toolbar...

step 5

... start cutting the upper label of the bottle using the pen tool to outline it...
