Make a portrait in Van Gogh style, with a modern touch.

step 1
You can use a photo of a loved one. This is a photo from www.sxc.hu.

step 2
I used a photo of a Van Gogh selfportrait to match structures and colors.
First of all, duplicate the background layer. Right click on the background layer, then click duplicate layer.
Make sure the new layer (background copy) is highlighted.
Now we can change the colors.
layer>new adjustment layer>color balance
Create a clipping mask by checking the box.

Play with the colors till you come as close as possible to the colors on the painting.

1. merge the clipping mask
2. you'll see the changed colors on the background copy thumb
3. duplicate the new layer
4. background copy 2

step 5
We are going to create a new background for the painting.
Make sure the new layer (background copy 2) is highlighted.
Select two colors with the eyedropper tool. First select one, then switch foreground and background colors with the double arrow, and select the second color.
