Tutorial goal:

In this tutorial we will show you a quick way to create a realistic snow effect.

step 1

Create new layer, fill with white.
then filter noise 400% or filter sketch reticulation.


step 2

To thin snow
go filter stylize diffuse, select
darken only. click ok, then while
holding down Ctrl hit the (F) until
the desired effect.


step 3

After that go to
layers and click mode arrow select screen.
adjust opacity to where you like it.


step 4

Make several layers of different opacity's for realism, and use the filter,blur; motion blur to
give the movement effect.


step 5

I made a copy of the background and used hue/ saturation to change color.

avatar tanamarnNice. I'd also add a gradated, semi-transparent, white layer to gradually lighten the distant
bridge & trees. To make it look like there's additional snow is between the camera and the
trees.
