Planets were made using cloud filter and then lighting effects with "Mountainous" checked. Star fied and aurora bourealis was made using noise filters and brushes. Smoke was made using brushes. Heltmer was made using shape tools and blending effects.

I wanted to use lighting effects to get the grittiness that I wanted. I feel this is a very "Real" looking piece of work, at least that is what I was going for. I would like to thank Sxc.hu for all of the great images.
