This is an image I created a little while ago (and is posted on my devArt page). The grass and stars were composed entirely of PS brushes (the stars brush link is credited), while the treestump was some variations of brown combined with the burn tool.

Since I did this before the creation of this contest, I unfortunately don't have a detailed step-by-step guide. Instead, I have attached 2 reference pictures to show the application of the brushes.
