December, 1941, created by bryantsia
Early morning, December, 1941.
James, already dressed up and ready for work, went through his morning mail as he was listening to the radio over a hot cup of coffee.
In his hand were three envelopes. The first one was a bill which he threw on the table the moment he saw it. The second was a letter from Lisa, his fiancée, who was in another state. He hurriedly opened it and revealed a short letter which read:
“My dearest James,
I hope everything is well with you.
These days had been the longest days of my life. I miss you so and each day I long to be with you again. As much as I would want the days to go by swiftly, they seem to drag on like months. But, don’t you worry about me, I’ll get through this, because, I know when we see each other again (which will be very soon), we’ll be together for the rest of our lives.
Please, take good care of yourself. I love you.
Sincerely,
Lisa”
James, smiling warmly, folded the letter neatly and placed it inside his breast pocket.
“What could this be?” He thought to himself as he inspected the third envelope…
It had the words “Selective Service System” printed on it…
After reading the letter contained in it, tears were streaming down his face. He hurriedly took out a blank piece of paper from his bag and wrote:
“My dearest Lisa, I’m afraid we’ll be apart for much longer, I just got a draft letter, it came in today together with yours. I don’t have much time now, but I promise I’ll write you as often as I can while I’m away.
I miss you terribly, and I love you very much.
Sincerely,
James”
He folded the letter, sealed it in an envelope and rushed out the door.
It was the last letter Lisa would ever receive from James.

NOTE: The story above is a work of fiction. By the way, please see full resolution and pay attention to the billboard outside the window, it has a URL on it. That’s my way of signifying that this “photograph” was taken at a relatively recent time, indicating how long “James’s” place have been abandoned. In addition, the poster on the floor (a campaign poster from WWII) is there to signify “James’s” feelings about the war.

Hello! This is my first entry on this site, let me know what you think please.
I used holly and oak leaves to represent an old pagan tale about the Holly and Oak Kings who battle at Yule. If you are interested in hearing more click on the link below.
I used the font "Chocolate Box", and also made some brushes out of a font called "Flakey".The 2 leaf brushes were made along time ago from a free image I got on a google search.Any other brushes were drawn by me.
To draw the moons, I used my boy friends' pictures as a reference.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. I cannot take credit for the font design....I found a cool sight with tons of cool font effects. Here is the link. Honesty is the best policy :-)
