Techniques:

1) Magnetic lasso to remove image from original source, replace sky in background. Create additional images to use as shadows.
2) Transform for angle of shadows and image angle.
3) Dodge & Burn for image highlights.
4) Healing brushes to remove initial shading and uneven elements on Golf course as well as eraser for skyline and imperfections in image.
5) Layer Filters to influence lighting and general effects.
6) Transform to angle correctly both the image as well as shading.

What could happen in the course of time with a church? Maybe something like this.

I used the two source images, a lot of details was painted by hand.
