Reworked this a bit to utilize images from my own stock collection. New background is from Datacraft Sozaijiten Vol. 006 Seasons & Nature
DoDo Feathers were prized for use in upscale women's hats prior to the Dodo's extinction as a species around 1800. They were also often killed by sailors for sport. Their meat was not popular, but as flightless birds they were easy to catch.
The actual date of Dodo extinction is not entirely clear. Sources report the date in a widely disparate range from 1650 all the way to 1861 apparently. It is thus averaged for this work at around 1800. A date at least a few sources cite.
