Variation on my original theme (I see another entry with a dotted ring... oh well, it's in the site logo).

No external sources. Used PST logo colors (eyedropped from a copy), with simple text effect of bevel/emboss to maintain legibility of labels.

Background repeats the contest category name continuously, with Gaussian blur applied.

Frame is an inside stroked square, set to 0% fill opacity. Ring made from many circles using ellipse tool, with bevel/emboss applied, then aligned along a drawn oval as a guide.

Lots of layers, cutting, resizing, dodge burn...Still don't know if I got the wood correct...but am seeing crossed eyed right now...lol
