How about making a bizzare looking plant of these beautiful holes? Here it is my trial.

NO EXTERNAL SOURCES

When I saw the cracked ground in this image and the little plant struggling to grow I immediately saw a face with layers of dead "skin" peeling away to show green plant life beneath.

So here is what lies beneath the paper facade of the dry earth.
