Added spherize to a duplicate layer and blended it to get a darker psychedelic effect.

I only used the sourse and added some different layers like black and white stripes whith a brush over the picture. Then I used filter/wave. After that I did a new layer and used gradient tool with some colours in. Used the eraser to bring back the orignal picture.
