Entry guide: step 1 of 11

I copied the Maple Leaf to a new image to do some work on it
Entry guide: step 2 of 11

Entry guide: step 3 of 11

Making a gradient roughly based on the number of seats each party now has.
143 Conservatives

Entry guide: step 4 of 11

Entry guide: step 5 of 11

Hmm let's add something to show how fast our government will now move. An animal that will represent Canada better then the Moose or Beaver...
I know!
Entry guide: step 6 of 11

Yes! The Canadian Snail. I reversed the gradient so it would show up better against the Maple Leaf.
Entry guide: step 7 of 11

Merge the Maple Snail with the flag again.
Entry guide: step 8 of 11

I have had this picture of silk lying around for about 7 years now.
I turned it to a gray scale, increased the size to match the flag and raised the contrast by 50 so there would be more detail later.
Entry guide: step 9 of 11

Multiply blending used to merge image.
Entry guide: step 10 of 11

Filter ===>Distort ====>Displace used to blend image. After playing around I found that 10 was the best settings for the vertical and horizontal scales.
Entry guide: step 11 of 11

Adjusted brightness and contrast until it looked right.
All done now.
