The shadows were meant to be at different angles. I painted over the original image no other images were used in the making of this image.

Interesting image. Nice job of recreating the background, but the light source is wrong. In the source pic it's from the lower left. The area around the trash can (or whatever that is) is flat & blurry. I think if you added some texture and/or foliage it would help.
This is certainly a very different take on the source pic. Credit for imagination!

I like it better at step 5, i would stoped there, but realy nice work with the ground

I fixed it. thanks for the comments. I actually was going to leave it at step 5 but it wouldn't make any sense. The glass already has highlights but I will try to add more. Usually from this angle a glass orb doesn't have that many highlights.

I wish you hadn't gone for that light source, which would put highlights on the trees, the trash can in lower right, and make a shadow on our side of the globe. Still, it's better than it was.

7-steps guide for Sphere of Glass:

Entry guide: step 1 of 7

First I brushed over the original image.

Entry guide: step 2 of 7

I continued brushing. :)

Entry guide: step 3 of 7

I used the patch tool.

Entry guide: step 4 of 7

Fixed a lot of mistakes. I shaded over most objects.

I added lighting filter, lens flare, and a lot of shadows using brush tool.

Fixed the lighting.

Entry guide: step 7 of 7

I added the orb. The orb is actually the image from the step before but spherized. I also added a shadow. For the final image I added something to stabilize the orb.
