avatar DanLundberg Not night, but early morning. The brightness of the sky (reflected in the water) may imply an unintended hint of optimism to what is otherwise a bit dreary. BUT given that the real Venice is being threatened by flooding, it's interesting to consider that the opposite isn't very appealing either.
