Cute! Love the apples! I think all the sun rays should stay in the background. (Not clear why the right-hand tree has a ray going through it when solid objects usually stop light.) I would note that the shadow of the chimney suggests that the sun should be located at around 1 o'clock. Shade the front lip of the pathway. Another layer of waves in the background might emphasze the island feel. I would get rid of the sign -- it blocks the house and you should let the whole image do it's own 'explaining' in conjunction with the contest-entry title you have already provided.

Bluer sky would bring out the white border around everything (the graphic element that is the key to the image's charm) and look more complete.
