I did a define pattern on the leaf area, made a large layer then used the patch tool to smooth out lines.

Star blur, new layer of black, with white as other color, go Filter add noise, then Filter, stylize, diffuse, darken only" OK, then hit the F key a few times until you have the amount of stars you would like. then go Filter, Blur, zoom. after that change the layer blend mode to Screen so only the stars show through.
