I used only polygonal tool to select the parts that composed the robot and the the clone stamp tool to get the textures from source image.
It was an hard work...I really hope u'll like it!!!!

CHANGED COPYRIGHTED EXTERNAL SOURCES (I made helicopters look exactly the same the old ones)

Interesting, but I don't understand what the thing is that the helicopters are flying around. The title and your commentary suggest that it is the robot hero -- except the hero looks like it's losing the battle. Also, the skyline silhouette is kind of flat. I can understand why all the power might be out so no city lights, but where is all the light in the sky coming from?

i quite like the ambiguous light in the sky as it alludes to the fact that there is more of this emerging creature. This also leaves some mystery as to the overall shape of the 'hero' which i like. The title is the only thing that lets it down, im not sure a robot hero is the first thing people think of when they see this, more of a 'war of the worlds' alien invasion perhaps. Other than that its really good, well done!
