I made a selection from one of the cavities inside the shell, but and pasted it in a new layer, worked over a black bkgd....

from same selection started forming the petals....

the petals formed now, I used dodge tool to get some highlights

In this step I made more selections from the same area I cut the petals for the flower. I also made a selection with the form of an arrow kind of, used same dodge and burn tools to give highlights, for the bottom part of the flower I worked with some colors and a nice brush.

this is the final image. I did not want to use a plain black bckgd, so I decided to use some clouds instead, blur them and use the dodging tool for highlights.....
