I used Greg Martins tutorial for the star field. http://gallery.artofgregmartin.com/tuts_arts/making_a_star_field.html . I flipped horizontal at the end.

I added a sun using Render, Lens Flare, 105mm.

I added a planet next, I used the Elliptical Marquee Tool and filled it with a Render, Cloud Texture then used the Unsharp Mask. I used the sphere filter a couple times on it, then added another layer and used the Gradient Tool B-W, I tweaked the opacity way down and inserted it into the main doc. Next I used the burn tool (a little larger than the planet and with a soft edge) to darken the backside, tweaked the Levels and Color etc.

I added a layer of clouds.

I added another sun.

I added two more planets and/or moons (same method as first). For the large planet I went into Layer Styles, Inner Shadow, Outer Glow and Inner Glow.

I didnt like the big planet so I went back in and resized it and the sun behind it. I merged and tweaked, added a few more stars, corrected Color, Levels etc.
