Make a selection with pen tool.

The original source is used for shapes, turn the src img opacity down 50% so you can see through to the layer below, (Scorpion) move the source around by free transforming, once your over the spot you want to copy, turn the opacity up to 100% then hit Ctrl J to make the shape copy.

Once you use the pen tool, right click inside what you've selected and click on (make selection) then Ctrl J to copy each part.

Move part each part to the correct area.

Dodge tool brush (Highlights) to brighten up area's. (Burn tool brush to (darken) area's.

Add black background to see how your contrast between darks and lights look.

1st red line, change layer mode to multiply - turn down opacity and with a soft brush make a shadow beneath the scorpion layer. 2cnd red line is first background layer.

Make a copy of background ctrl J - then change layer mode to multiply. add some highlights (screen or soft light mode) and shadows(multiply or darken)
