The making of Expectation, step by step...
original image

step 1 of 9
Here's what exactly i've used of the source.

step 2 of 9
To be sure the body will be as flawless as possible, I drew it with the Pen tool. You can see the material I will apply to it later.

step 3 of 9
Here's the result of multiple wrapping of the material. I've zoomed it so you could see it's wrapped (i hope it shows). I've also used the Clone stamp tool where needed to cover any unwanted edges.

step 4 of 9
Here's what the body looks like after much dodging and burning. Right next to it you can see all the parts of the dress, made by wrapping the second material. There's a little part of the dress I've forgotten to put out (right between the girl's knees) which is also made of that material, after much wrapping.

step 5 of 9
You can now see what the finished dress looks like (again dodged and burnt). I've also highlighted the nails and the lips, so you could see them better.

step 6 of 9
I drew the bench in a separate document. All with the Pen tool.

step 7 of 9
Here's what the composition would mainly look like. I've dodged and burnt the bench a lot already.

step 8 of 9
Again, using the second material to add "environment" (wrap tool).

step 9 of 9
A rough version of the final image. There will be some more dodging and burning and a photo filter. And we're done :)
