step 1 of 10

The first thing I did was bring in images. I then cut out the make up holder, and resized and shaped it to fit the cell phone. I then made an adjustment layer with brightness and contrast to darken the make up.

Then I cut out the picture in the cell phone to make it hollow. I used a pic from http://www.sxc.hu/photo/792661 as the reflection in the phone.
I then made a copy of the thumb and pasted it on its own layer. I made a shadow layer for the thumb also with a soft light overlay.

Then I used a picture of a phone from Google Image search (http://www.thevooner.com/feature/2002/12/30/gd88/gd88_full.jpg) to use as the part where the phone or make up case folds in the middle. I put in and resized and masked it. I then used the clone to clean up around the edges.

I then selected and copied merged everything into its own layer to fix a couple of things with the clone tool.
Then I opened up my balcony picture and deleted everything but the balcony using the pen tool to make the selection and then just deleting it.

I then went back to the main photo of the makeup case and hand. Using the pen tool I cut out the background leaving only the hand. I moved it to the top layer.

I then went in with the clone tool and spot healing brush tool to get rid of all the water on the hand, because she is not at the beach anymore.

Finally, I created one last layer to darken the top of the phone just a bit. I grabbed the selected a small portion at the top of the phone (make up kit) and filled it with black. I set the layer mode to vivid light and turned the opacity down to 38%. That’s it. Until next time.
