I turned the cactus in the source image into a caterpillar and then fixed the background to make it look like its sitting on leaves. and then decided to make it look like the caterpillar thinks the cactus is his mommy. haha

I made the different colours by playing a little with the color balance function. The eyes were done by the help of a tutorial.

Why does everyone pity the cactus? It looks angry to me. Blending around the eyes would improve this picture. I also agree with the other comments that it's too dark, it would look nicer if it were lightened up a bit.

I'm still loving it, I just want to squish the poor thing with love. there are images that need a little bit of this, and a little bit of that. Sure there could be improvements… but once you get a real expression, it kind of transcends all the critiques. Your lil guy has character!

Used a photo of my hand and the source.

It`s not a bad idea, but let's say there are better ones . About the image itself, imo the use of reflection makes the total a but confusing. After all you mostly wanna show the result of your bad idea, no? So maaaybe you could do sth else with the background/area under the hand, but at least I`d suggest to show some blood on the little finger (too), so it's more clear sth happened. And maybe you should check how to give the blood more shape. Good luck!

I like the idea, but I agree the blood needs a little help. When I am doing blood I usually use the marquee tool to outline the shape, making sure it follows contours and such, then I fill it with a nice blood color and then you can either use layer styles - bevel and emboss (play with the settings to get it to look right) or use the dodge and burn tool to give the blood some shap. remember blood it really thick and does really reflect too much light.
