I agree with Vicspa... try to use a gradient tool at the reflection..... and at some part the reflection is realy wrong, as at the middle of the image and in front of the round yard...

the reflection is not a shadow it depends on from where you look and it's a direct line from top to bottom"see the small tree far at the background right in the middle?" specially that the source of light is not defined or located anyway i appreciate your point of view and made some experiments to change it but it wasn't logic as this one. and about the wrong effect in the middle it's just a wavy effect to give the feel that there is water not just a mirror

Those are some very nice reflections. But as Vicspa said, they need to be further down. I'm an expert on reflections, author. I've studied them a looooot - and I studie physics... When the palms reflect in the street it's the base of the palm that is the "flipping point". So when you flip the image, is should be done accodring to that point. This means that if you make a point at the base of the tree it should be equal distances between the top of the tree and the reflection. You have only about 60% percent of the hight right now. Your reflections are good, but not perfect...

And about gradients and reflections: Gradients are often used when people make fake reflections. Seen from a physics point, it's wrong. The reflections don't get more and more invisible. It's just made to make the reflection look better... What you did is perfectly fine. Gradients are for adds and fancy images, not for photorealistic images!

in that case gradient tool will be important because the reflection at the midlle of the street must be different from the borders ......Street is not a perfect mirror....

Agree with Lundmikkel, the reflection is good..... it's a difficult work

lundmikkel I think it's not necessary that the reflection is the same size of the thing reflected it depends on where you are from the thing reflected and the angle from where you look. Your theory could be true for a plain mirror but when you are talking about reflection on a road or sea or even oil it's different also you forget that the picture with reflection is in fact a 3 dimension in reality so the reflection is not designed it's just recorded with a camera but if I draw a pencil and want to give it reflection I'll do exactly what you said. I think they look good! If I wasn't going to over-ANALyze and pick it apart I wouldn't notice anything wrong. The reflections could be moved down some as suggested, but I dont feel it's necessary.

as a matter of fact i doubt that the right most palm tree should have such reflection BECAUSE there's an isle between it and the reflection surface (the part of the rod that's clostest to us), and we're not absolutely sure how big it is. we could suggest it's big enough to override the reflection space (hope i make some sense), therefore you may not result in having a reflection there at all! there certainly is a reflection, but it's on that part of the road behind the isle.

I love this image and would really like to see a tute on it. If I put in my 2 cents, I'd say the water on the road shouldn't be even. e.g. Like, the camber of the roundabout would like mean the inner area should be wet but not under water. But I don't care coz it all just looks so effective anyway.
