@ friction: no outside sources allowed --> means no external pictures, just PS, and brushes are the biggest part of the PS, perhaps ronald "the theme suggestor" should have been more specific about what kind of external sources he meant...in any way it still in the theme and I like it!!

listen up guys, to end the confusion about vector brushes, I PM ronald - the contest suggestor - and he told me EXACTLY the following: "If the brush contains an image it will not be allowed,If the brush contains dots / stripes / grunches. it is ok.About the vector part. If you make the vectors images yourself in photoshop it will be ok.But if you use vector images made in illustrator or even by someone else it will not be allowed."

Such brushes (wich you hardly can draw yourself and wich mostly is same photopics) is also descripted as extra sources. There is no difference between copypaste image of guitar and using such brush. You havent done anything except view clicks. Thats only my opinion btw

Well, i guess we both will stay on same point of view, i will put only one example here - what is a brush? Its just a mask of any picture. So lets say - i will take famous actress\actor picture or something that will look amazing for sure and make a brush from it (its really easy to make a brush). Then i'll create a new image file , put some gradient on background, chose my brand new brush and put a ONE click on this. Then i will post it with subscribe - all done by photoshop. I dont hink it would be fair.
I could be more patient and nice in case if its coloured, with effects, scenary... _something_ that u will spend time and skills for.
Anyways , dont get me wrong - i just want to be constructive, dont want you to be sad. Best wishes.

i can sit on the fence between author and milkins here.. i can see what milkins is saying, it is just an image made into a brush.. but i too have used brushed that i made from images in mine.. the only thing i can suggest to get around this problem of people suspecting outside sources is to use brushes that are block.. what i mean by this is.. if its a brush made from an image, then it should have no detail.. like for example the bird brushes found on Obsidian, they are silouettes of birds rather than detailed pictures... getting back onto topic of your image, i think this is a nice base

good point about detail-less brushes, vaugoro. And really - thats not about brushes. Thats about choppin' - you can use any brush, but do it creative. (the more extra source\brush usage , the more creative you should be to approve your mastery).

I guess that we all agree now that using a brush preset is ok, but using high detailed vectors are not accepted, and making it your main element in your entry is not that cool, this could be lack of creation with PS and will be unfair also, "sorry but i'm trying to be constructive too", try to focus on an element which is really done 100% with PS without vectors, and with the brushes you have, use lower detailed ones as a background for your entry...and for "friction", it is not stated clearly at the theme's rules what is meant by external sources, whether they are images or brushes...
