Nice job! Very funny idea. The only problem I spot is the back of the head. I think more shading is needed. It looks a bit flat. Everything else looks fine.

Myup, better already. Another thing: apart from that the squirrel is holding the wheel, I was wondering how it's more convincing that that lil creature is actually in the car. What about taking any of those backseats from the original and put just a bit of it in the corner inside the car, j-u-s-t to cover the tail a bit and that the tail is also leaning against the seat and then behind like it is now (not sure if I made myself clear

i really like this layout, its very clean but honestly if your pitching a new publication to an advertising or mktg firm you would never do it in this manner, they would be presented on blackboards, with a few different mockups and spreads, but as a cover its very nice

I agree completely with ballistic515 -- but the reality is that voters on this site don't allow themselves to be constrained by strict adherence to the theme (which is admittedly frustrating when you work really hard to enter a theme contest). But I do feel it is legitimate respond to the notion, if not the pure letter, of the challenge. This site is about creativity after all. [As an example of reasonable limits, I would note that a DVD cover has nothing notionally to do with a magazine cover.]

Nice image

. Suggest to put the text "low-gravity...." more under in the green part, there's too much going on o top already. Perhaps the orange-red color from SPAS wont work with green, maybe you can change it into white then (although the orange does fit well with the orange moon of course). Also, maybe you can change "special report" into white, right now a bit too hard to read. Backup plan is to put a (ie) white background on top for the whole text, and put the main title a bit more down then, so it gets more space. Good luck

Thanks wazowski for the suggestions. [An aside: Even Pulitzer-Prize-winning authors have editors. Getting input from another pair of eyes can improve the finished product.] I confess that I, too, was sort of concerned about the largely open space at the bottom of the cover, but I guess I was too enamored of having the orange "SPAS" near the orange moon to consider alternatives. I appreciate the prod to try alternatives. I realize that "SPECIAL REPORT" doesn't stand out that much, but it's not critical text, I like the color, and I don't want to overshadow the magazine's title.

, just a doubt about the orange SPAS. I can imagine you wanna keep it orange, an idea then còuld be is to make SPAS or the whole text bigger. For a likely big article it wouldnt look even that weird or sth, but it's up to you what to do, author. Maybe one last thing to look at: the only places where you used black text are in the bigger text and left under (price). May-be for the composition of color it's an idea to put the price info to right up under "october" and then also change that from blue to black. It's just a minor thing and perhaps better dont pay attention to it, but couldnt help to mention it.

So I think orange is a good contrast with green. Unfortunately, the green water with the dark ripples makes it hard for text to be subtle and still readable when it's not black (but even then it still can be a stretch).
